What is liposuction?

Post Liposuction Surgery Advice.
- At the conclusion of Liposuction patients are given custom made compression garment which needs to be used 24 hrs a day for 2-3 weeks.
- Patients who have undergone large volume procedure (aspirate more than 5 ltr),liposuction of multiple body areas, liposuction with abdominoplasty or other body contouring procedure are advised for overnight observation.
- Patients are encouraged to move around on the day of surgery and given sequential compression devices until discharge.
- Patients are allowed to take shower as early as 1 or 2 days post operatively.
- Initial post operative visit scheduled 5-7 days after surgery.
- Return to activity can occur as early as 3-4 days or 2 weeks depending on the procedure.
- Walking is encouraged immediately and light activity allowed after2 weeks unless the patient has undergone associated abdominoplasty or invasive surgery
- Initial post operative period weight gain is expected due to volume shifts and post operative edema.
- Post operative edema tends to increase from 3-5 days after surgery.
- Patients are advised to do post operative massage to promote lymphatic drainage and reduce edema.
- Post operative bruising and redness reduce by 7 -10 days after surgery.
- By 2 weeks patients can notice contour changes in waist.
